Background
The initial Southern York County Regional Comprehensive Plan (SYCRCP) was first developed in 1999 by the Southern York County Regional Planning Commission, which included Shrewsbury Township and Glen Rock, Railroad, New Freedom, and Shrewsbury Boroughs, as well as the Southern York County School District.
The 2010 update included the same municipal participants; except New Freedom Borough opted out and did not participate. New Freedom Borough has not updated their comprehensive plan since 1999. Also, the Southern York County School District was not a direct participant but was consulted to update the Community Facilities and Services Chapter.
The SYCRCP is scheduled for an update in 2022, with New Freedom Borough rejoining as a participant in the update, along with Shrewsbury Township and the Boroughs of Glen Rock, Railroad, and Shrewsbury. The Southern York School District will again be consulted to assist with updating the Community Facilities and Services Chapter.
